German Championships 2013: EB29 dominates the Open Class

At the German Championships 2013 in Mengen the different versions of the EB28 and EB29 demonstrated their superior performance.

Michael Sommer is the old and new Champion, flying the EB29. Vice-Champion is Uli Schwenk, also on EB29. The third place went to Tassilo Bode, flying the brand new Racing Two Seater EB29Elektro.

Patrick Gai, flying the EB28 edition, occupied the fourth place most of the competition and finally finished on a very good seventh place.
Out of 28 competitors 8 choose to fly EB gliders.
Congratulations go to all pilots.

The weather conditions were mixed. So the EB pilots did not use the option to fly with shorter wingspan but preferred to fly with 28.3m throughout the competition. In doing so they were able to fly high average speeds and this clearly helped them to dominate the field.

Particularly successful was the competition debut of the EB29D. The concept of the Racing Two Seater proved to be a great success as the pilots were able to compete with the normally superior single seaters on equal terms. The E-engine proved to be robust and reliable. Daily take offs on max. take off weight were no problem as well as home-flights of up to 140km. In the prevailing very high ambient temperatures the E- engine proved even more powerful than the conventional combustion engines.
