Namibia 2009/2010

A total of ten aircraft from our production were based across the three gliding centres in Namibia. Periods of exceptionally good weather allowed for many long‑distance flights.

Approximately 220 flights covering distances of 1,000 km or more were reported to the OLC – 85 of these were flown with the ASH25 EB28, EB28, or EB28 edition.

Congratulations to all EB pilots for these outstanding achievements!

Special congratulations to:

  • John Bally for flying a 1,041 km FAI triangle at an average speed of 130.8 km/h on 22 December in the EB28, setting a new British record.
  • Guy Bechthold for completing the longest flight ever flown in Namibia – 1,412 km at an average speed of 144.26 km/h – on 14 December with the ASH25 EB28.
