The 38th FAI World Gliding Championships for 18 metre, two-seater and open class gliders, held from 17th to 31of August 2024 in Uvalde, Texas, were a success for the German team.
On 12 soaring-days speeds of 129–164 km/h were achieved. Michael Sommer recorded the fastest flight with 164.53 km/h on the second scoring day, .
As a team, Felipe Levin and Michael Sommer took first and second place in the Open Class with their EB29R single-seaters.
The five participating EB29Rs all finished in the top six places.
