The 37th FAI World Gliding Championships 2022 – Szeged, Hungary, were held with fast flights under mostly good weather conditions, resulting in a total of 10 competition days.
The German team, Felipe Levin and Michael Sommer, both flying the single-seater EB29R, consistently achieved top day results with average speeds ranging from 135 to 164 km/h.
With 164 km/h, they achieved the fastest flight of the competition in the Open Class on the 4th contest day.
In the overall ranking, Felipe Levin took first place and thus became the 2022 Open Class World Champion.
Oscar Goudrian flew the competition in the two-seater EB29DR. He quickly adapted to the new aircraft and kept up well with the speeds, earning him second place overall.
